It can be utterly frustrating when one of your favorite items is discontinued and you can no longer find it at your local store. A few years back you might have been out of luck, but these days you can probably find your favorite discontinued item for sale by searching eBay online auctions. Ebay is a site that allows sellers to begin an online auction. Many eBay sellers purchase items being discontinued for great prices so that they can sell them on eBay.
Instructions:
1) Go to ebay.com. If you haven't used eBay before, you'll need to register to use the site. Click the big red "Register" button and follow the simple instructions.
2) Type the name of your item in the eBay search box and click "Search."
3) Review your results to determine which items meet your search criteria. Notice the tabs labeled, All Items, Auctions Only and Buy It Now Only. By default your search results will show all items, but you can click either of the two other tabs to further narrow your search. Auctions Only is self-explanatory. Buy It Now Only will bring up those items that sellers have listed a firm price for, rather than putting up for auction.
4) Check items from eBay stores. These items will generally come up underneath your other search results. These items are also available for auction or purchase.
5) Decide which item you want to bid on or purchase.
Tips and Warnings:
Looking at a sellers feedback will help you determine whether or not they are reputable. A higher positive feedback number normally indicates a reliable seller. It's a good idea to use your credit card to pay for a purchase on PayPal. That way, if you should have a problem with a purchase, you will be able to dispute the purchase through your credit card company.
