How to Add Google Adsense to Google Sites

Google AdSense offers website publishers an opportunity to derive income by serving textual ads that target the websites audience. Website publishers earn that income through both ad clicks and ad impressions. Recently a debate has begun regarding whether publishers may include Google AdSense with Google Sites (structured Wikis offered by Google), whether by policy or technical issues. For a while, Google did not allow such publishing. However, since 2009, Google made clear to the publishing community, Google AdSense provides an option for integration with Google Sites.

Instructions:

1) Sign into your Google AdSense account with your username and password. Use the drop-down menu in the top left-hand corner to select the site you want to work with.

2) Locate the More Actions drop-down menu, and click on the menu and when it drops down; select the Manage Site option.

3) Scan the left side of the page and find the Monetize option. Click on this option with your mouse.

4) Select the Monetize this Site button and click it.

5) Create a new AdSense account for the Google site by clicking the Create radio button or make use of an existing AdSense account by clicking the Use Existing AdSense Account radio button, to integrate with the Google site. You will need to adhere to the instructions appearing on the screen, depending on the radio button you select.

6) Go to your Google site and insert the code generated by and copied from Google Adsense. Accomplish this by clicking the Insert option and pasting the code from Google Adsense into either the page or the sidebar.

Tips and Warnings:

Google publishes an extensive list of policies all publishers must adhere to when serving ads. Google recommends reading these policies carefully and ensuring you adhere to the policies. Penalties include Google disabling your AdSense account and barring any future participation in the program. In addition, Google makes changes to the policies as business environments and internet dynamics dictate, with a recommendation that all publishers review the policies regularly to ensure compliance.

Your site must provide public access to display Google AdSense ads. If your site does not allow for public access, you will receive an error message indicating your site cannot serve targeted ads. Users of Google AdSense many not place ads on sites containing or alongside prohibited content. Such site focus and content includes advocating racial disharmony, adult material and violent material.
