When you are making a listing on eBay to sell an item, your listing page should look professional and attractive. One way to add color, different fonts, graphics and other features to an eBay listing is by using HTML code. If you do not know HTML, but are even slightly proficient with Microsoft Publisher, you can use the application to make polished, appealing eBay listings by using the application's easy formatting and viewing the source code.
Instructions:
1) Open Microsoft Publisher. Go to the "File" menu and click "New." Select "Web Sites" from the list of publication types. Select an option from the "Easy Web Sites." The template will open as a new Publisher file.
2) Click "Cancel" if the Easy Website Wizard opens. Delete all but the main text box on the page. To delete a text box, click the border of the box to select it and then press the "Delete" key or right click and choose "Delete Object."
3) Enter the information about your eBay listing into the remaining text box. Be very descriptive, and always be completely honest. To change the font, select the text, right click, point to "Change Text," and select "Font." In the Font dialog box, you can change the font, the style, the color and more.
4) Select "Web Page Preview" from the "File" menu. The eBay listing will open in your web browser as a web page. Leave this open and open another browser window (such as Internet Explorer).
5) Go to the eBay website in the new browser window. Click "Sell," sign in, select a category and enter information about your listing. In the "Describe the item you're selling" box, click the "HTML" tab.
6) Go back to the browser window containing your Publisher file as a web page. On the "View" menu, select "Source." A notepad will open with the HTML code for your Publisher file. Click inside the notepad, press "Ctrl+A" to select all of the text, and then press "Ctrl+C" to copy it. Go back to the eBay page, click inside the "Describe the Item You're Selling box," and press "Ctrl+V" to paste the HTML code. Click "Preview" to see how your listing will appear!
